Tea Tree essential oil is extracted from the leaves, in this case by steam distillation. The Australian variety has a unique aroma which is slightly camphorous that comes from its active ingredient, Terpinen-4-ol.

Tea tree has very similar actions to Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium). It is antibacterial, anti fungal, antiviral in action, and is used for treating viruses, head colds, chest colds, bronchitis, coughs, skin irritations, cuts, scrapes, wounds, ulcers, sinusitis, acne, eczema, psoriasis head lice, dandruff, cold sores, abscesses, parasites, warts, fungal toenails, insect bites, insect repellent, ringworm, candida/thrush, chickenpox and more.
