Their distillery is located in the heart of Port Blakely’s expansive 85,000-acre forest, nestled in the foothills of New Zealand’s South Island. They employ a row-hedging process that preserves the trees and prunes new needles and branches every three to four years, which serves as their raw material. This process ensures that the forest remains a permanent carbon sink. Additionally, they use the renewable by-product of trimming their Douglas-fir trees to power their biomass boiler, which generates steam for their distillation process. This approach minimizes their environmental impact.
